Sat, 15 November 2008 So, this is how it began...The Yeehaa Cowboys sprang to life from
the pages of a Screenplay, titled of course, The Yeehaa Cowboys!Having no money and no clout in the land of Hollywood North, we began our pitch with a lack of stuff that usually helps...success! Along the path of despair we hit upon an idea so magical, so fantastical that it rejuvenated our cowboy spirits...why not create a band out of the script...and see what happens! Ten years later...just kidding...about six months into our grand fable, a Toronto Theatre producer heard about this wacky cowpunk band with a script, read it, and produced what has now become legend, we think, in Toronto..."The Yeehaa Cowboys Stage Musical." With a cast of over 30, we think, the stage musical had become a rousing success and helped us to spawn...yes we said spawn...our debut CD release, "Cowpunk Baby, Cowpunk!" Vacaville is our tribute video to that enchanted theatrical time. Enjoy the Rabbi Ninjas. Yes, we said Rabbi Ninjas, Vlad Lupo, our honorary vampire cowboy, and the entire zany cast and crew that helped to make "The Yeehaa Cowboys Stage Musical" a success. Thank You Very Much! Sat, 2 February 2008 Tell me a lie in that haze I'd decide should I comfort you with tears Tell me a way that allows me to say I own everything you need Love I'm sorry that it never gave you strength Tell me a lie in that space I'd reply I'm already in your path I see you wandering through your days and I think you don’t know me And I feel wretched and torn delivered yet scorned I'm a man that heeds your will Tell me again why I must pretend that your last breath was mine I see you wandering through your days and I think you don't know me What if I said that I could act the part for you wouldn't that change the rules the words "I needed proof" what if you said that I could live apart from you wouldn't that make me want to stay Could you see through my eyes but I don't want to cry all night yeah I think you don't own me Could you steal more than time but I don't want to hide all night yeah I think you don't own me www.yeehaacowboys.com Comments[2] |

Tue, 29 January 2008 I stayed awake just watching you asleep and I can't fade away can't say good-night Do you recall how I begged to steal your heart but I just gave way without a fight Your eyes were mine I saw it in your gaze and I knew I knew The last time we were together I kissed you you kissed me forever All read and torn I've ripped apart your words and there's no meaning there's no reply Stay and say it's never going to change end this story with the first line Your eyes were tired I saw it on your face and I knew I knew The last time we were together I kissed you you kissed me forever The last time we were together I loved you you loved me forever Even if the darkest lie saved you from the misery I'd given you I'd step aside I look back and I deny I was only sober when I cheated you took your pride The last time we were together I kissed you you kissed me forever The last time we were together I loved you you loved me forever www.yeehaacowboys.com Comments[0] |

Sat, 26 January 2008 This is the ballad of the country music pharaoh He lives in Texas, may not be Egypt, it sure ain't Ontario He is the King of his domain, the Sphinx of cowboys He has a four wheel drive for a chariot yeah he's a good old boy One day he came home with hole in his head he said, "Baby I think maybe we got some kind of worry, get the doggies, grab 'em round, call my lawyer up in town, I fear soon I may be dead, and in my will I want it read.... If I die, shoot my horse kill my dog and my wife of course oh., bury me in my pick-up truck cause in the afterlife, you know my ford can't suck Oh please make sure that in my tomb I’ve got my ten gal hat and my rhinestone boots I'll need my six gun shooter t'keep the devil at bay I'm gonna nail that sucker, yippeee-ka-yi-yay....." Then he lay down, tried to soothe his nagging doubts played his guitar one last time but found no twang in the sound "Oh woe is me, I can't believe, my time has come my final grief but I'll take you all along with me, cause I'm the Pharaoh, yeah that's me! If I die, shoot my horse kill my dog and my wife of course oh., bury me in my pick-up truck cause in the afterlife, you know my ford can't suck Oh please make sure that in my tomb I've got my ten gal hat and my rhinestone boots I’ll need my six gun shooter t’keep the devil at bay I'm gonna nail that sucker, yippeee-ka-ya-yay....." www.yeehaacowboys.com Comments[0] |

Sun, 18 February 2007 ![]() blueVenus materialized in 1998 out of a moment of pure, clear-sighted inspiration. In an instant, singer-songwriter and violinist Andrea de Boer glimpsed the blueprint for her band's name, flagship song and musical destiny. "I realized my music depended on being completely vulnerable and truthful...and that my goal was to take the listeners outside of their everyday reality." Soon destiny would reveal guitarist and composer Devrim Eldelekli, a fellow Berklee College of Music student, who proved to be both a life partner, and an irreplaceable influence on the blueVenus sound. blueVenus performed extensively in Boston, developing their material and intimate performance style before heading to Toronto. It was there, while recording the first tracks of their debut CD at Metalworks Studios, that blueVenus met Juno award winning engineer and producer L. Stu Young (Prince), who dedicated himself to seeing the project through to an impeccable finish, along with producer Iain McNally (former guitarist for Amanda Marshall). de Boer's vocal style has been compared to the hard-hitting emotional sounds of Fiona Apple and Janis Joplin, to name but two. Comparisons aside, de Boer commands an unmistakable, unique power voice that rings true. Coupled with Eldelekli's perfectly intricate guitar licks, the result sounds like something...new. blueVenus is a band that does not sacrifice precision to sound fresh, a band that honours its influences, including SunRa, Ella Fitzgerald, Curtis Mayfield and Radiohead, without ever mimicking them. " "There is something magical that is created between Andrea and I. We have reached a point where we can simply sit down, start improvising and free-styling, and it will actually sound really good, just like a painstakingly penned and arranged song." On the self-titled debut CD rated "one of the best albums I have heard in a long time...perfect," by Germany's Gitarre&Bass magazine, blueVenus showcase their skills and trustworthy musical instincts. "Get it Now", the song that won honourable mention in the Billboard Song Contest 2005, is an offering of flawless pop, the kind of song built on foundations so solid it is sure to resonate indefinitely, while "blueVenus" lifts us out of our musical comfort zone and transports us to another world of textured sound. With loyal fan bases established in Boston and Toronto, blueVenus branched out, touring Europe in the summer of 2005. Along the way, blueVenus opened for Garbage and Megadeth at Turkey's RockIstanbul festival, a show that was recorded and played live on Turkey's Dream TV, played the Frankfurt Museumsurferfest and treated the late night audience at the Dreikoenigskeller in Frankfurt to a performance the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung described as "hypnotic and impressive." Now we tell them what's in store for the future... www.bluevenusmusic.com www.myspace.com/bluevenusmusic Comments[0] |
